I am Senator Muthama's wife, Jubilee Women Representative candidate declares

Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama might have an uphill task distancing himself from his children's unfamiliar mother who is now seeking an elective position in the August polls.

Agnes Kavindu, who is eyeing the Machakos County woman representative's seat on Friday stated categorically that she was Senator Muthama’s wife.Speaking during an interview on KTN News Mrs. Kavindu said that she is the senator's wife and that they were staying together.

Senator Muthama recently disowned claims that she was his wife and there are suspicions that her move had made the senator pull out of the senatorial race.

"At some time we separated but he later wanted us back together, I wanted it as well. We moved together and even got another child," she said.

She admitted that there was a case in court over their disagreements and that Mr. Muthama had refused to accept that she is his wife even though they live together in their Machakos home.

She has four children and three grandchildren with the youngest child who she says she got with Mr. Muthama after their reconciliation being 21-years-old.

While Senator Muthama is key to the opposition politics in Ukambani and in the country, Kavindu is on a Jubilee ticket and has confidence in winning in the polls despite nodding to the perception that Machakos is an opposition stronghold.

"We did not talk about my move, but if he is satisfied with serving the people as the senator, it is only him to decide. I can’t say I was the reason, “she said.

She said she had gone through a lot as a woman and had experienced what ordinary women feel like when denied essential needs as housing, clean water, food, and electricity.

According to her, the experiences she has puts her in a better place to deliver and will work with the government and goodwill agencies to support development in the area.
