A family suffers a double tragedy in the hands of a Nairobi gang, as they fault the human rights activists

The family of Nahshon Nyaniti has not yet come to terms with what has befallen them.Nahashon the only bread winner to his family was attacked and stabbed by a gang of young men while returning home from work.

Nahashon was headed home on the 7th of February 2017, when he was attacked by a group of young men near his house demanding that he gives them everything he had.

According to his wife, Jackeline Achieng, the husband called her immediately after the attack and told her that he was badly hurt and rushed to a nearby hospital.

“ He called me telling me that he had been attacked and he has been hospitalised at St Francis Hospital, he told me he had minimal chances of surviving. His phone immediately went off and I was left guessing on the next step to take,” said Achieng.

The wife said that her husband tried to plead with the young men to take the money he had with him, a phone and the food he had bought for supper to his family but they did not take them instead they started raining blows and slaps on him as others stabbed him mercilessly.

Nahashon has been on and off in the hospital.Last week he was taken to the hospital ICU but he did make it home alive again.

His family said that despite them losing Nahashon they have lost everything they owned after selling their property to settle the hospital bill of Nahshon. Nahashon has left them with over two million hospital bill that needs to be paid yet they have totally nothing.

The family of Nahshon has faulted the human rights activists for defending criminal without really addressing the havoc the gangs are causing to many families.

“The human rights people should think twice before they come to the defense of these criminals because as they talk they have not been victims of these so called gangs,” said Josiah Oyaro the uncle of the deceased.

In less than three months the gang has attacked three people in the same area and among them, two have already died.
