Raila led party, ODM dealt a blow following the IEBC chair decision on nominations

ODM party has been dealt a blow following the decision by the Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chair Wafula Chebukati announcing that no political party is going to hold party nominations earlier than the 13th of April 2017.

Speaking to the press on Friday Chebukati said nomination of all political parties will be held after all the names of the involved candidates have been gazetted in the government gazette.

The party had scheduled to carry out its preliminaries as from 8th April in 2017, starting with Bungoma and Busia county.

Earlier own ODM had hinted that they will go on with the nominations without really aligning to the date set by IEBC.

Owing to the preparation the party had made in the two counties where the nominations were scheduled for tomorrow, the ODM officials in those regions have expressed their disappointment.

The party officials from those regions said that they will; convene a meeting on Friday at 2 pm to discuss the way forward.

Meanwhile, they have said that they will consult with the party leaders to deliberate on the way forward. The officials said that already the Party leaders are having a discussion and as soon as they come to a conclusion they will communicate the same to party members.
