Politicians off the mark on famine

It is very disappointing to see some Kenyans suffering due to famine yet our leaders are busy with campaigns all over the country.

Some regions in the country have experienced perennial drought and the Government should have prepared mitigation measures to break the famine cycle.

Those in power should give us good reasons as to why we should not send them home come August 8. Seeing leaders trying to be good during this campaign period and pretending to be concerned over famine crisis is not acceptable.

Budget and appropriation committee chairman Mutava Musyimi recently said his team had met with Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich to prepare a case for fighting the drought. He should know that prevention is better than cure. I commend well-wishers who are helping starving Kenyans.
