Randy couples turning Migori thickets into lodgings- authorities on high alert as condoms, bras recovered

Residents of Migori town are complaining of being treated to uncomfortable scenes as randy couples have turned bushes into lodgings.

The residents of Oruba estate in Kamarienga say they notice the couples sitting tightly and shortly after they disappear into the thickets. They say the happenings have caused them discomfort for a while now.

According to the residents, the aftermath includes used condoms, panties and bras left behind in the thickets. Furthermore, traders and school children have been treated to sounds of lovemaking at dawn and in the evening. Parents are now a worried lot as they say school children are at times found playing with condoms they pick along the way or imitate what they see in the bushes.

“We are alarmed that people have decided to behave like dogs,” said Charles Ouma, the Suna Oruba chief.

The chief said his office received similar complaints several months ago. It was after Nyumba Kumi and the chief’s office carried out intensified patrols in the bushes that the menace stopped.

However, the behaviour has started picking up again as some of those involved carry out their actions during the day.

During the patrols, several suspects who were found in the act were arrested and lashed as others were chased away.

“We are perplexed that it has come back,” Ouma said. The bush is located in a swampy less populated area of the estate and is mostly used as a dumping site.

According to the chief, the randy couples have been destroying trees and shrubs, apart from causing residents discomfort.

“We have placed elders on the lookout for suspects who will be arraigned in court soon,” Ouma said.

The bush is said to have further attracted not only locals but residents from Migori town.

“While other estates in Migori town have lodgings to cater for these clients, Oruba has been known for insecurity which has scared investors, making the bush attractive. When you walk around and see a man and a woman lurking around you walk away before they disappear,” said resident Marcelina Adhiambo.

The residents have accused housewives and adulterous couples who are afraid of being caught in lodgings of being the main culprits.

“We have several lodgings in Migori town and we will never allow our area to be a place of shame. We will have several arrests made to send a message,” the chief said.
