Credit Reference Compliance

Credit information sharing among the countrys financial institutions begins in Ernest in July this year. A successful pilot programme involving all banks has been concluded, and the only licensed credit reference bureau, C-R-B Africa, says it will be all systems go come July. Consumers of credit will however be receiving alerts on the kind of information being forwarded to the bureau to form part of their credit history, which could, in future, work for or against chances of accessing credit. The test runs were to introduce commercial banks to the information templates ahead of monthly reports expected from July.
