Oftentimes we consciously demarcate business from faith, thinking the business world is more secular than spiritual one but what we fail to grasp is that God is in the business of creating successful entrepreneurs out of us, if only we would allow Him.
There are people who have been stuck in jobs they do not find fulfilling and who have been planning for eons to make the big break from employment.
It would seem like their dreams are not valid because they still hold the same positions and nothing seems set to change.
Then there are those who will never hold onto a business. As soon as they set up one, they close it and will first blame the government, then somebody else, but never themselves.
I know a person who is now in his 15th business in 14 years but all his businesses have always been miserable.
Unfortunately, he has never sat down to evaluate himself, his resources, environment and his faith.
It all begins with faith — in God that He alone is the owner of that business and that you are merely His steward.
Business is indeed very important to God going by the parable of the talents.
The man who was given five gave back 10; the one who was entrusted with two, submitted two more while whoever was given one went and buried it fearing to encounter his master’s wrath.
How many of us would rather put money in a fixed deposit account and earn a measly interest than sink two million shillings in an eatery?
Fear prevents us yet in God’s world, there is no fear. Our trust should be in God to multiply that business.
That is where faith meets with an entrepreneurial spirit.
In order to exercise faith, one must also exercise courage — to believe in what God has placed within you to use it to earn a living or multiply it.

Righteousness must precede us — which means we will only engage ourselves in businesses that do not transgress the word of God.
I am sure, for example, that God cannot and will not support running of brothels, drug dens and the like.
God does not also sanction dishonest means to getting wealth.
How many times have we been cheated out of our meat due to dishonest weighing scales which God so abhors?
In addition, the word of God says we should use whatever gift we have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of His grace in its various forms.
It means therefore that we should look at our businesses as serving the people, and we should treat our customers well.
Further, you must be free from the love of money.
Millions in the account should never change you because God has the power to strip it away.
Allow yourself to receive honest feedback which is your opportunity for growth.
Mentorship is also part of the faith package, so seek out one who is successful in your line of business.
Above all, dedicate your business to God, and pray every day for the success of your business. Without faith, it’s impossible to please God, and they that seek Him must believe that He is, and that he rewards them that diligently seek Him!
