Wanyama reveals how Tottenham treated him badly towards the end of his time with the club

Montreal Impact midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed that Tottenham blocked his move to Celtic.

 The 28 year-old attracted the interest of his former club Celtic during the January transfer window, but the deal never happened in the end.

The Kenyan talisman would instead complete a surprise move to the Major League Soccer (MLS) side Montreal Impact -managed by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

In an interview with Madgoat TV, Wanyama said Spurs treated him badly towards the end of his time with the club and also stopped his move to Celtic despite his willingness to return to the club.

“It was sad the way they were treating me. I had given my all to the club. I loved the club and had a good relationship with the fans and the players so I wanted to leave the club to at least enjoy football again,” the midfielder told Madgoat TV.

“They started to delay a lot of things, even Celtic among many other teams wanted to sign me but the club was taking me on rounds until the deals collapse, and the transfer windows closed.

“I spoke with my agent and he told me the MLS transfer window was still open and there were teams that are interested in my services.”

However, Wanyama still dreams of playing for Celtic before he hangs up the boots.

 “I want to play for Celtic again before I finish. I have unfinished business there. I love that club,” Wanyama told The Athletic last month.

Wanyama joined the Saints in 2013 from Celtic and spent three years at Southampton before he left for Tottenham Hotspur in a Sh1.1 billion deal in 2016.

He became the first-ever Kenyan player to score in the UEFA Champions League when he scored the first goal in Celtic's 2–1 win over Barcelona on 7 November 2012.

The Kenyan talisman has earned over 50 caps for Harambee Stars since making his international debut in May 2007 at the age of 15.
