The hearse carrying the body of football die-hard fan and UK's biggest jackpot winner Colin Weir will make one final trip to his beloved football ground Partick Thistle's Firhill before it will be cremated.

Colin Weir, 71, died after a short illness on December 27, 2019.

The father-of-two from Largs, Ayrshire, won Sh21.3billion (£161,653,000) with his then wife Christine in 2011.

They had been married for 38 years but divorced earlier last year.

They were reportedly living in separate mansions for several months after they 'drifted apart' when Colin went to Partick Thistle games while Christine, 62, attended charity events.

Colin helped refurbish Largs Thistle’s ground and gave more than £1million to Partick Thistle so they could set up a youth academy and clear debts, reports the Daily Record.

The Die-hard Partick Thistle fan passed away only weeks after he completed a takeover of the club where he had purchased a majority stake.

Colin said: “I have been a Thistle fan since I was a boy and spent many hours at Firhill — some more enjoyable than others."

In a statement Partick Thistle said: "A loving father, and much loved by family and friends.

"The funeral service will take place at Partick Burgh Hall, Burgh Hall Road, Glasgow at 11.15am on Tuesday January 14, to which all are invited. There will be a private cremation thereafter.

"Prior to this, the cortege will stop at Firhill at 10.30am to allow Colin a final visit to his beloved Partick Thistle.

"Family flowers only, please, but donations can be made in lieu to the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust.

"A Scottish patriot, philanthropist and Jags man to the end.

"Rest In Peace, sadly missed."
