England's Cricket World Cup winners are reportedly set to be rewarded for their thrilling triumph in the Queen's New Year Honours.

The national team won a first-ever World Cup with a thrilling Super Over triumph over New Zealand in the final.

And captain Eoin Morgan will be rewarded with a CBE, with his team-mates also picking up gongs, according to The Sun.

Among them will be Ben Stokes and Joss Buttler, who shared a partnership of 110 to drag England to an unlikely tie with New Zealand.

The pair then smashed boundaries in the Super Over, accumulating 15 runs which was matched by New Zealand pair Jimmy Neesham and Martin Guptill.

But England won by virtue of having hit more boundaries during the match.

England captain Morgan, who was praised for his calm leadership throughout the World Cup, described the win over New Zealand at Lord's in July as “the greatest game ever played".

Stokes this week won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award .

Weeks after his 84 not out helped England to victory in the World Cup final, he smashed one of the greatest innings of all time in The Ashes.

With defeat appearing to be inevitable for England, Stokes hit 135 not out to win the third Test at Headingley.

His innings included 11 fours and eight sixes.

He was then named England's man of the series in a 2-2 draw against Australia.

The success Stokes enjoyed in the summer came two years after the Durham all-rounder was charged with affray following an incident outside a Bristol nightclub in September 2017.

Stokes missed the entire 2017-18 Ashes over the incident and subsequent trial, but was acquitted in court.

England's Ashes heroes of 2005 were rewarded in the Queen's New Year Honours list.
