How Arsenal could line-up under Jose Mourinho with Mesut Ozil brought in from the cold

Jose Mourinho has been linked with Unai Emery's job at Arsenal as results continue to go against the north London club.

The Portuguese has been out of management since he was sacked by Manchester United in 2018, but has regularly hinted he wants to return to the game.

He is reportedly keen on managing in the Premier League as he allegedly wants to become the first man to win major honors with three separate clubs in the English top flight.

The Gunners appear to be his best bet to achieve this goal, but Mourinho wouldn't have big money to spend at the Emirates - something he likes to do.

With that in mind, and considering the areas the Portuguese may like to strengthen, we've put together a possible Mourinho Arsenal XI.

Bernd Leno - The Arsenal shot-stopper is a safe pair of hands and would likely keep his place under Mourinho in north London.

Hector Bellerin - One of the more experienced players at Arsenal, Mourinho would have him work on his defensive positioning as a matter of urgency.

David Luiz - Mourinho sold the Brazilian to PSG when he had him at Chelsea, which doesn't bode well. But the Portuguese does know how to handle Luiz and vice versa, and Mourinho would certainly have him drilled... even if only for a season.

Eric Bailly - Mourinho signed the center-back when he was at Manchester United and he looked good until an injury derailed his progress. He's not getting football at Old Trafford anymore and would welcome the idea of working under Mourinho again.

Kieran Tierney - A Mourinho left-back if ever there was one. The young and hard-working Scot would flourish under the Portuguese.

Lucas Torreira - The Uruguay international is hit and miss under Emery, but Mourinho would welcome his tenacity and he'd likely feature regularly.

Axel Witsel - A Mourinho midfielder if ever there was one. The Portuguese tried to sign Witsel for Manchester United, and would likely do the same at Arsenal. Would clean up brilliantly alongside Torreira.

Mesut Ozil - Out in the cold under Emery, Ozil loves it at Arsenal and is desperate for something to change. The German has played under Mouinho at Real Madrid, and the pair have a great mutual respect for each other. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Mourinho has spoken out about the Gabon international this season and would almost certainly play him out wide for Arsenal. Nicolas Pepe - Arsenal paid big money for Pepe and while that isn't Mourinho's problem he would likely find a way to utilise him in his starting XI.

Alexandre Lacazette - Another player who has been discussed by Mourinho in the Sky Sports studio, and the man who would likely lead his line.
