World Super Bantamweight Champion Fatuma Zarika risks losing her Super Bantamweight title should her team fail to sign the contract for the Yamileth Mercado rematch set for November 9, Mexico.

In a letter signed by the World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman Saldivar on Thursday, October 3, Zarika’s team has been warned of the risk of the Super Bantamweight championship being declared vacant if they don’t sign the contract in time.

“The WBC has been extremely flexible and has supported our pride champion Fatuma Zarika, in a very strong manner.

The confirming communication in regard to the mandatory fight against Yamileth Mercado in Mexico for November 9 is now in jeopardy due to the lack of commitment and signature of the contract from your side.

I have personally been involved talking your side to secure an unprecedent purse for women boxing and has spent countless hours to make sure everything is satisfactory for both sides.

Serve this letter as a final reminder to provide the signed contract by Friday, October 4, 2019 at the closing of business hour in Mexico City.

If the contracts is sot signed, the WBC will declare the super bantamweight championship vacant…”
