Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud admits he is open to an exit in 2020 - and says the MLS could be his next destination.

Giroud penned a new deal at Stamford Bridge over the summer but will be out of contract next June.

He is already considering his next options as he enters the latter stages of his career, and ESPN FC say he has closely followed the fortunes of European players who have moved to the United States.

The 32-year-old told RMC Sport the MLS would be an "interesting" option but admitted he could be tempted by other opportunities when he eventually departs the Premier League.

Giroud said: "MLS, for my family, my children who speak English, it is interesting.

"In a year? Two years? I don't know when.

"But of course, I will be opened to a new challenge.

"It is not only MLS which could interest me."

For the time being, Giroud says he is happy at Chelsea and delighted the club activated an extra one-year extension on his deal.

He added: "There has been no discussions because the club had an option for an extra year and they took it because they were happy with my contribution to the club.

"It is even more than that. There is real trust. It was not really my desire to leave anyway so I never asked myself about a possible departure."

Giroud has started just one Premier League game under Frank Lampard, making two further appearances off the bench.

He was an unused substitute in their recent home draw against Sheffield United but is currently on international duty with France.
