Nyali Golf Club's professional Njuguna Ngugi produced a round total of 212 gross to climb to the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the ongoing Safari Tour golf tournament last evening.

Ngugi who had 77 and 69 gross in the first and second rounds yesterday added an impressive round of 5-under par 66 gross to take the lead going to the final round today (Wednesday).

Ngugi said he was delighted with his display and looked forward to another great performance in the final round today (Wednesday).

"I felt great today after almost everything worked out perfectly. I am looking forward to more of the same tomorrow, “said Ngugi.

Muthaiga professional Greg Snow was second after returning a round score of 3-under par 68 gross to take his total round tally to one over par 214gross after playing a 74 and 72 in both rounds.

The overnight leading trio of David Wakhu, Alfred Nandwa and Dennis Saikwa were separated by one shot, with Saikwa playing a round of one over par 72, while his counterparts returned identical scores of 2-over par.

Saikwa now sits in 3rd on an overall score of 3-over par 216, one ahead of Wakhu and Nandwa who are T4, heading into the final round.

Amateur Daniel Nduva returned a score of 3-under par 68 to move to T6 on an overall score of 7-over par 220, alongside Erik Ooko, who carded 1-under par for the round.

Final round action, will tee off today (Wednesday) from 8:00 AM with 23 professionals who made the cut from 46.

This is the first leg of the 12 leg series organized by the Kenya golf Limited and Sponsored by Barclays Absa that will also extend to Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

The Professional golfers are all battling for a KSh.1 million prize fund in each leg and a chance to gain entry into the 20201 magical Kenya Open expected to take place at Karen Course from 12th-15th March 2020.
