A total of 21 rally cars are taking part in the 2019 Top Fry Rally that was flagged off on Wednesday, August 1 from the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, Nanyuki.

The drivers will brave dust and heat and navigate through the challenging terrain of Laikipia County, going through three competitive stages each day, for three days, which is averaged to be 250 kilometres.

Rivalries are set to be renewed, with 2019 WRC Candidate Safari Rally winner and multiple Kenyan champion Baldev Chager and navigator Ravi Soni looking to literally show opponents dust in a sleek Porsche Carrera 911. They will race for the Kabras Racing Team.

“We are not taking our competition within Group one for granted. On our watch list, we have ‘Flash’, who can surprise anyone as well as Ian Duncan whose immense wealth of experience comes in handy for him in such an event,” said ‘Baldie’.

Multiple East African Safari Classic Rally champ Ian Duncan will give Chager a run for his money as he tries to navigate the rocky Laikipia Terrain in a classic Ford Mustang while being navigated by Anthony Nielsen.

Another serious challenger will be Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo who will be piloting a beautiful white and orange Triumph TR7.  The four-time Kenya National Rally champion is clearly no stranger to success and has expressed his desire to eclipse his opponents’ might and win it. He will be navigated by Tim Jessop.

“We are serious and determined to give a good shot. I will target top positions or even win it,” said Tundo.

Other notable names include Kenya’s Onkar Rai and South African Geoff Bell who will pose a threat as they brave the storm in a Porsche 911 and a Datsun 240 Z respectively. These two heavyweights will be navigated by Kenyan duo Gareth Dawe and Tim Challen respectively.
