Sevilla name strong squad to face Simba SC in LaLiga World Challenge

Uefa Europa League five-time winners Sevilla have named a full-strength side to face Tanzania's Simba SC in a LaLiga World Challenge clash in Dar Es Salaam on Thursday.

Captain Jesus Navas, a World Cup winner with Spain in 2010 and formerly with Manchester City, leads the Spanish side for battle against a Tanzanian side boasting lethal former Gor Mahia striker Meddie Kagere.

Argentine midfield maestro Ever Banega, French striker Wissam Ben Yedder, Spain's Aleix Vidal and Pablo Sarabia make up LaLiga side's 20-man squad for the showdown in East African country.

Sevilla have already sealed a Uefa Europa League berth while Simba SC lead the 20-team Tanzanian Premier League with 85 points with five matches to go.

Simba Sc will field the bulk of its team that lost at the quarterfinal stage of the Caf Champions League to TP Mazembe of DR Congo.

Tanzania top striker John Bocco, who is expected to lead Taifa Stars challenge at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt next month is also in the squad along with goalkeeper Aishi Manulu.

Ugandan legion of Emmanuel Okwi, Juuko Murshid, Mzamiru Yassin will also have a bite of Spanish flavoured football.

The fixture is part of the LaLiga World Challenge programme aimed at bringing the Spanish league closer to its fans.

LaLiga is ranked first in the Uefa index with its teams having dominated European Leagues in recent years. Spanish clubs have won the last five Uefa Champions League titles.

The 2018/19 Champions League final will be contested between English clubs; Liverpool and Tottenham at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano on June 1.
