Coast region boys’ hockey champions Shimo La Tewa begin title hunt against Tudor Day after they were drawn in a relatively easy pool at the Coast Secondary Schools Term One games.

Shimo La Tewa High School and Shanzu Teachers Training College will host the regional games that run from March 13 to 16. Basketball, hockey, handball, rugby 15s, rugby 7s, athletics and swimming feature in the competition.

Coast Secondary Schools Sports Association Secretary Omar Munga said swimming will be held at Oshwal Academy, Nyali, on March 9 while a draw for the rugby 7s will be held when teams arrive.

Shimo La Tewa’s hockey team has been drawn in Pool B of three teams and a win in the opening match against Tudor Day will see them qualify for the semi-final with a match against Kenyatta Mwatate of Taita Taveta County to play.

The match will be a repeat of the Mombasa County games where Shimo La Tewa beat Tudor Day 5-0 and the former will be looking forward to repeat the same performance when the two teams clash.

Shimo La Tewa were beaten by Mombasa County champions St Charles Lwanga 1-0 during Mombasa County games.

In Pool A, St Charles Lwanga of Mombasa are together with former Coast champions St Georges of Kilifi and Kwale’s Kinango School. In girls’ hockey, champions Matuga Girls are pooled with Macmillan and Taita Taveta representatives while Pool B has St Charles Lwanga.
