Reigning men basketball champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are set to recruit three players to beef up the squad in readiness for the Premier league that throws off in March.

Coach Sammy Kiki says he intends to retain the title for the fourth consecutive year hence the need to strengthen his squad.

“My team is still intact, but I will strengthen the squad with two forwards and a guard. We were pretty good last season and we must keep our good run in 2019,” he said.

KPA humiliated Ulinzi Warriors 3-0 in the final play-offs to successfully retain the title for the third year in a row last year.

“My focus is to have a strong bench, which can step in perfectly in case of a crisis. We must plan to win all our matches without any interruptions,” he said.

At the same time, Kiki announced the return of the national player Ariel Okal. Okal left the club last year to join a club in Seychelles.

“I had a chat with Okal and has shown interest in coming back to KPA once his contract expires in June this year. The return of Okal will be a major boost,” Kiki said.

Okal won the Most Valuable Player gong in 2014 and was part of the national team the same year as he represented the country at the Africa Zone V.
