It is official!

Paul Pogba will lead Manchester United out of the Amex Falmer Stadium tunnel on Sunday as they face Brighton and Hove Albion in a mouthwatering Premier League clash.

Pogba was handed the captain’s armband last week as the Red Devils opened their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 humbling of former champions Leicester City.

After the win, Pogba refused to comment on his relationship with Mourinho for fears of being fined saying, “There are things I can say and there are things that I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.”

His comments elicited mixed reactions from football lovers worldwide, arousing negative speculation about the Frenchman’s future at the club.

However, speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mourinho defended his relationship with Pogba saying he has never been happier with him than he is now. He then added that they never had a heated confrontation as suggested in dailies across Europe.

“I don't care. I repeat: I want him to play well, I want him to play for that team, the fans, and that is what it is. He's working extremely well here but I have to say in his defence, write what you want about him, me, please don't say lies, don't put him in a situation that people can think he's not a polite, educated guy, he is. He never had a fight with me,” said Mourinho.

He then confirmed that the World Cup winner would captain the team again against Brighton on Sunday.

“He’s working well, playing well, he does it for the fans, he does it for the team and that's what I want, to play for the team and I couldn't be happier than what I am. Captain? For the next match, yes,” he reiterated.

Mourinho also confirmed Jesse Lingard would be in contention to play.
