Manchester United are ready to use Anthony Martial in their bid to land Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic.

Martial is surplus to requirements at United after a disappointing third season, with boss Jose Mourinho having sanctioned the France forward's exit this summer.

Dortmund's versatile forward Pulisic has emerged as one of the most sought-after young players in Europe and could form part of a player-plus-cash swap deal involving Martial.

The £40million-rated Pulisic has also caught the eye of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, but United have now turned their attention to him, with Martial being used as a potential makeweight.

Pulisic can play as a winger or through the middle, and has impressed in three seasons at Dortmund, his pace and ability to beat opponents marking him out as a future world star.

Mourinho has lost patience with Martial, the forward's abject display in United's 1-0 defeat at Brighton last Friday confirming to the Reds boss it is time for him to be moved on.

Despite his undoubted talent and potential, Mourinho has been unable to get performances at a consistent level from Martial and the 22-year-old is set to be offloaded this summer.
