Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has admitted that his future in the club will not be determined by whether he win the FA Cup or not as he is expected to part ways with the club at the end of the season.

The London outfit will have to face the threat of having to pay the full £9 million bill if they sack Conte at the end of the season.

After being eliminated from the Champions League by Spanish giants Barcelona, the Blues are left fighting to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea have not been able to grab any silverware this season so far and they will be hoping to make the FA Cup their only trophy but it will not be an easy task as rivals Tottenham and Manchester United are also eyeing for the same trophy. The Blues are set to face Leicester City for the quarter-finals of the FA on Sunday at King Power Stadium.

Winning the FA Cup and claiming a spot in the top four will not be enough to outweigh the breakdown in relationship between the Italian manager, the board and key players.

Conte has been blasted for dumping their best striker in Diego Costa last year by a text message and also rowed with David Luiz following this season’s Champions League group stage defeat to Roma.

Currently, there are fears of a fallout between Conte and Hazard over roles in the team as the Belgium forward is not feeling comfortable playing as a false nine and is more likely to seek a move away from the Stamford Bridge if the head coach stays on.

Asked by the Italian reporters whether or not he can save his Chelsea job by winning the FA Cup, Conte replied: “Its’ not an issue of winning a trophy or not. I think the work of a coach must be judged not on victories, but on the improvement of the squad and the current value of the squad.

“I think this is a team that can grow in terms of quality and experience. We can do better in every aspect. I am not seeking victories; I continue my work aware that I am doing good work.” He added.

However, Conte has been shortlisted as a potential replacement for Unai Emery this summer as the Spanish manager is facing the sack at the end of the season. Conte has also been linked with a return to the Italian national team.

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel and Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri are the potentials to succeed Conte at Chelsea.
