Re-elected Kenya Rugby Union chairman Richard Omwela said contracts issues of rugby Sevens players would be resolved before the April 7-9 Hong Kong tournament.

While fielding questions after the Wednesday evening elections, Omwela said negotiations between the union and the players were in progress. “Just for the record, we have finalised the Sevens players’ contracts, but the issue is on how long the contract should be,” said Omwela.

“They want the contract to expire in September, yet the season ends in May. The matter is currently under discussion with hopes of coming up with an amicable solution.” Omwela was re-elected after getting 25 votes against Sasha Mutai, who got 23 votes.
