Court allows plea bargain deal in murder of four women in Nakuru

The High Court in Nakuru has allowed the prosecution to finalize a plea bargain deal with the main suspect in the murder of four women in Mawanga Estate last year.

Justice Heston Nyaga gave the State up to February 9 to negotiate the deal and report back to him.

He made the order in a case where Evans Kebwaro, and six others, have denied killing four women aged between 20-38 in Nakuru between December 2021 and June 2022.

“The case will be mentioned on February 8, to allow the prosecution and the accused to finalize the plea bargain deal,” ruled Justice Nyaga.

Court documents show Kebwaro with his co-accused Kevin Otieno, Josphat Juma, Julius Omondi, Dennis Mmbolo, and Isaac Nganga had targeted female victims and would rob them, rape, strangle, and then set their houses on fire.

Kebwaro, on November 30, last year said he applied for a plea bargain on November 21, and was waiting for the prosecution's response.

Prosecutor Loice Murunga then acknowledged Kebwaro's deal saying she was ready with two witnesses.

Murunga said they will consider Kebwaro's application, and might turn him into a State witness.
