A woman in Kipcherere, Baringo County, is in agony after her daughter, a primary school pupil, disappeared from home on Thursday last week.

Christine Tallam said Sandra Jeptoo, a Grade Six pupil, left the house around 6 am and never came back.

She thought the child would come back home as usual but this did not happen.

Ms Tallam said Jeptoo had a day before her disappearance, mentioned that she no longer wanted to go to school. She however did not explain why she did not want to attend school anymore.

"All I did was to encourage her not to quit school. I told her why it was important for her to go to school but she did not like the idea," said Tallam, adding: "She is a good child. We hope she will soon come back home. We have not been able to establish why she suddenly developed a negative attitude towards school though."

Tallam said she was preparing tea on the material day when she noticed that her daughter had packed her bag. She took it away thinking she had saved the situation only for her to realise moments later that the minor was missing and so was the bag she had packed.
