Trans-Mara couple detained as daughter, 8, is killed in domestic dispute

Police in Kilgoris, Trans-Mara West are investigating an incident where an eight-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father while he fought with her mother.

Area Deputy County Commissioner Hassan Noor said the girl was hit with a stick on the head and died on her way to the hospital.

"It was reported that the girl was killed by the father while trying to hit his wife following a domestic row. On realising the child had been injured, both parents rushed her to hospital but she did not make it," said Mr Noor.

He said the man and his wife were arrested and taken to Kilgoris Police Station. "The two are being interrogated and might be charged with murder.
