Court hears driver would refuse to drop passengers and rape them elsewhere

A driver in Molo has been arrested and charged  with raping two of his passengers, among them a 15-year-old minor.

Simon Wanjau is accused of not stopping at the passengers’ preferred destinations and speeding off to his house where he raped them

One of the victims, recounted before Molo senior principal magistrate David Wahome what began as a hitched ride turned awry when the suspect drove to his house where he attempted to rape her.

“I started screaming and I struggled a lot. Were it not for the suspect’s neighbour who heard the commotion, he would have raped me since he had already removed my trouser,” she said.

He  threatened  her that he had been arrested  several occasions and released.

It was until three days when Simon would be arrested after he raped a 15 year-old class seven schoolgirl.

“I was on my way from Njoro town to Elburgon. He did not stop and took me to his house in Molo where he defiled me,” the minor told the court.

Threats

The suspect then dropped the minor at her uncle’s home and threatened to kill her if she reported to anyone.

This was not to be the case as the minor’s uncle, David Maina would report the incident to the police and take the minor to the hospital.

Charge

Simon pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh200, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount for the first case while the second attracted Sh300, 000 with a surety of the same amount.
