I'll support Moses Wetang'ula if I see the white smoke, says Musalia Mudavadi

Musalia Mudavadi has promised to support Moses Wetang’ula for the presidency if he is nominated Coalition for Reform and Democracy candidate.

His sentiments come in the wake of a revelation by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale that they are courting the Amani National Congress leader (ANC) leader to join CORD. Mr Khalwale claimed that talks are ongoing to persuade Mudavadi to join CORD and pointed out that Wetang’ula is working hard to ensure that votes from Western are in one basket.

Mudavadi hinted that he would only back Wetang’ula and not the other two principals of CORD, Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Sunday, Mudavadi said Wetang’ula told him that CORD leaders will meet and settle for presidential candidate in a manner similar to the way Catholics picks the Pope.

“I am waiting for the smoke. If it is a white smoke for Wetang’ula, I will say fine. But if it is a black smoke, what do you want me to do?” Mudavadi asked mourners at a funeral in Tongaren Constituency.
