A 26-year-old man was rescued from an irate mob after he allegedly attacked and seriously injured two people at Gombe village in Bondo sub-county last night.

The suspect, Frankline Odera Alando, is said to have robbed the two men of their motorbike and mobile phones.

According to Migwena West sub-location assistant chief Mr William Oreme, the robbery was reported to Kopolo Police Station and a search immediately mounted.

"After several hours of searching, we managed to recover the motorbike but the suspects had already gone into hiding," said Mr Oreme.

Mr Oreme revealed, however, that Odera, who is a jailbird, was later cornered and smoked out of his hideout by members of the public.

"The suspect was however lucky after police rushed to the scene before he ran for safety and presented himself to Kopolo Police Station," he added.

He added that the suspect has revealed a number of his accomplices and that a manhunt is underway to arrest them as well.

The assistant chief went on to caution members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
