Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o clashed with Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir over plans to construct the 63-kilometre Mamboleo-Muhoroni Road.
In a meeting which brought together the governor and five MPs from the county, Mr Shakeel took a swipe at Prof Nyong'o, accusing him of misleading the public on the planned works on the road.
Nyong'o had on Thursday said he had reached an agreement with the Kenya National Highway Authority (Kenha) to begin constructing the road estimated to cost Sh6.3 billion.
Yesterday, the governor held a meeting with MPs Shabbir, Jared Okelo (Nyando), Aluoch Olago (Kisumu West), James Nyikal (Seme) and Onyango Koyoo (Muhoroni) to discuss details about the road.
After the closed door meeting, Nyong'o told the media that construction of the road, which has been neglected for a long time, had been approved.

He termed Nyong'o's remarks "roadside declarations".
