Six people have been quarantined over suspicion of being infected with Covid-19.

Homa Bay County Commissioner David Kipkemei said the six are among ten people being monitored. Four others have since tested negative for the virus.

"Three have been quarantined at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital while three others are being quarantined at their homes,” Kipkemei said.

He told residents to avoid spreading false information regarding coronavirus through social media platforms.

The administrator said the government was working in partnership with the county government to provide health workers with protective gears for managing covid-19.

So far, 25 protective gears have been received in the county for combating the virus from the national government.

More than 30 police officers have been deployed in Homa Bay town to enforce adherence to safety standards for prevention of the spread of the virus.
