Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has released a score card for the development projects his administration has initiated since he came into office in 2017.

The projects include some that are spearheaded by the national government in an effort to turn Kisumu into an economic hub for the East Africa Community.

Prof Nyong’o’s second State of the County address came at a time when traders are struggling to rebuild their investments after their stalls were demolished to pave way for expansion of the port.

The governor yesterday told residents that his administration has made major strides in improving service delivery in health, business and infrastructure development.

In the last financial year, the county government spent Sh9.5 million to purchase dairy cows for farmers as it sought to take advantage of the Sh123 million dairy multiplication centre funded by the United States Agency for International Development.

“We are strengthening dairy co-operative societies by providing them with milk coolers,” Nyong’o said.

Nyong’o noted that his administration has spent some Sh130 million to upgrade Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Through the initiative, the county government constructed a 31-bed ward and renovated the emergency and trauma centre.
