Woman killed by security vehicle escorting money to Kisii town

A sugarcane vendor along the Kisii-Keroka Road died after being hit by a BM Security vehicle escorting cash from Keroka to Kisii Town.

Confirming the Tuesday morning accident Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet said that Florence Moraa, 42, died on the spot at Nyosia area while two police officers in the Probox vehicle James Musaya and Stephen Makau were injured.

Kibet said that the two officers who complained of head, back and chest pains have been admitted at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where they are receiving treatment and are out of danger.

“The body of the deceased woman is currently being kept at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial arrangements by her family to be complete,” said Kibet.

In another incident, Alois Nyakundi, 65, died on Tuesday after drowning in a quarry full of water at Nyamatuta village in Kitutu Chache South Sub County.

Kibet said that the elderly man was walking along the quarry when he accidentally slipped and drowned and by the time members of the public rushed to rescue him they found him dead.

The police boss said that Nyakundi’s body was taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary where a post-mortem would be carried out to establish the real cause of his death.
