State to build Sh30M slaughter house in Nyanza

The Government is planning to build a Sh30 million slaughter houses project in  Kuria, Nyatike and Bondo with an aim of improving meat production.

During the press conference in Kisumu the livestock PS Keneth Lusaka said that part of the work is ongoing and additional funds are on process.

“We are already building the Kuria facilities, Nyatike and Bondo are on course,” he said.

The projects intend to boost livestock production and improve the livelihood of the residents of the identified regions who depend on the livestock for income.

So far, the Ministry has rolled out an artificial insemination projects aimed at boosting the milk production which was on the decline in Nyanza and Western Provinces.

Consequently, they have come up with a number of value addition projects with the prime motive to increase farmers’ earnings from huge investments in agro and agro-based sectors.

The projects are being undertaken in Homa bay, Migori, Kuria , western and other regions in Central and Eastern Kenya.

He also challenged farmers to tap the opportunity and work hard to better their lives. Adding that the Government will provide them with new farming technology
