Former Papa Shirandula actress turned radio presenter, Jacquey 'Wilbroda' Nyaminde has opened up on suffering a miscarriage back in 2013.

Sharing the traumatic experience via her Instagram page, the social media sensation revealed that after the birth of her first born son in 2010 she went through postpartum depression and only regained her joy when she learnt she was expectant with her second child.

“On the 16th of July, 2010, I became a mother to a beautiful baby boy. It was birth by C section and my friends were there with me from the moment I got into theatre up until when the surgery was done. Thankyou @victorgatonye Thank you @king_lambourghini. 4 days later, I was home, excited about this new chapter of my life. But then almost immediately, I started having feelings that I did not understand. I was extremely sad...There was this hollowness that would show up, especially in the evenings.

“I'd experience such anxiety and just start crying. I didn't understand it, I'd never heard of it. It just didn't feel right. I mean I was supposed to be happy. I had just been blessed with the most precious gift. I hated that feeling. I hated evenings. I told nobody about it. It just slowly slipped away...Only later did I get to know that what I went through was called Postpartum Depression. Then in 2013, I got pregnant again. Oh I was elated! I hoped and prayed that it was a girl. I was almost sure it was, so I named her Atis,” she wrote.

Unfortunately, at three months Wilbroda disclosed that she started noticing an unusual spotting which prompted her to go to the hospital only for the doctor to disclose that she had suffered a miscarriage.

“But then at 3 months, I noticed abnormal spotting and my heart just sunk. The doctor confirmed it and I went in for an evacuation 2 days later. That was a sad period for me. Sometimes I sit and imagine she'd be 8 years now...” she added.

Single mother

After an amicable break up with the father of her son, Wilbroda says she was left to care and raise her child as a single mother. Despite being apart, she admitted that the father is still active in the boy’s life and is grateful for the mentorship he is giving the youngster.

“We both knew that it was the best decision for us and our son, and I felt at peace. His father is actively involved in his life, so he is the first father figure. I also have very responsible male friends who are always there for us. In addition, I do my best to love, provide and discipline him when the need arises, besides praying a lot,” she told The Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle.

When it comes to who she dates, Wilbroda said, “There’s that X factor. I want to be able to sit with this guy and have intelligent conversations, I want someone who will build me. Also, because I’m a mother, I want someone who will mentor my son and those are the things you look at especially when you are a mother.”
