A US national was Friday afternoon shot and seriously wounded in a robbery incident in Nairobi’s Kawangware area.
The victim, a middle aged female volunteer of a children organization was visiting a home in Ngando area when the incident happened at about 3pm.
She was shot in the shoulder by a gunman who also robbed her of her camera, cash, mobile phone and other personal valuables.
Police and witnesses said the victim was in the company of three other Americans who were however not injured in the attack.
According to Nairobi Area police boss Anthony Kibuchi, the three had visited a children’s home for donations and were walking back to where they had parked their car when the incident happened.
“They were walking on a railway line when three young men confronted them and demanded to be given the camera and other valuables. One of the ladies apparently resisted prompting a shooting,” said Kibuchi.
The victim was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital where she was admitted in a stable condition.

Contingents of police were mobilized to the area to hunt down the suspects and by Friday night no arrest had been made.
Kibuchi said they had intelligence on the identities of the attackers and vowed they would be arrested.
“They will be arrested very soon. It is a matter of time.”
