The High Court has dismissed an application by National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, to order a lifestyle audit on Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

According to the court, the case lacked merit leading to its termination.

Raila wanted Waiguru to give a list of properties she owned and categorically state the amount of allowances she earned when she was in office.

The former presidential candidate also wanted the former CS investigated if she traded in the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

"I will be greatly prejudiced if these interrogatory questions are not answered as I will not be in a position to sufficiently prepare for trial," Raila pointed out.

Waiguru had in May challenged recommendations by the National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee that she was responsible for the loss of over Sh719 million at the National Youth Service (NYS).

The committee said more than Sh23 billion might have been lost in the scandal, which was way above the Sh1.8 billion that the Auditor-General had cited in his report to the National Assembly.

The Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary sued the National Assembly, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Attorney-General (AG).

The committee's recommendations were adopted by the National Assembly on May 24.

A lifestyle audit was also recommended for top officials of the Devolution ministry at the time, including Waiguru, for the last five years.

The outcome was to be made public by December 31, 2017.
