Kingi orders tests on relief rice after residents complain of stomach pain

KILIFI, KENYA: Governor Amason Kingi has instructed health officials to test relief rice being distributed by the National Government in the county.

Many residents in Kilifi have rejected the rice amid claims that it is artificial or synthetic and imported or manufactured in China. Government officials have largely been silent on the matter that is fueling local conspiracy theories.

Addressing a rally at the weekend in Junju Ward, Kilifi South Constituency, Mr Kingi said he had received several complaints that people have been suffering stomach pains after consuming the rice.
