Paul Pogba is on course to return from injury for Manchester United earlier than expected.

United's world record £89million signing suffered a hamstring strain in his side's 1-0 Europa League last 16 win over FC Rostov last week.

Paul Pogba's hamstring injury not as bad as first feared as Jose Mourinho given big boost ahead of run in.

Reds boss Jose Mourinho blamed Pogba's injury on an "accumulation of fatigue", with the France star having played 41 of United's 48 games this season.

But Pogba is understood to have made good progress in his rehab and is on course to feature in the home clash with Everton at Old Trafford on April 4.

But there is no desire at United to rush Pogba back from his first injury setback of the season and risk him being out longer by aggravating the original problem.

Against that backdrop, United's medical staff could decide to wait until the trip to Sunderland on April 9 to ease Pogba back into action.

But United boss Mourinho is keen to have Pogba back and fully fit for the Europa League quarter-final tie with Anderlecht, as well as the Premier League clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has already suffered a double injury blow with defenders Phil Jones and Chris Smalling both pulling out of the England squad.

Daley Blind suffered a head injury in the win over Rostov but is expected to be ready to feature against West Brom a week today.
