Eject Wako, Gicheru if they won’t resign

The intensified calls for the removal of Chief Justice Evan Gicheru and Attorney-General Amos Wako from the helm of the Judiciary are commendable.

It is heartening that more politicians are now calling for change of leadership in the Judiciary as a fundamental step towards far-reaching reforms in the institution.

Wako has been accused of laxity in prosecuting corrupt fat cats, thus making him appear partisan in dispensing justice while Justice Gicheru lost credibility when he participated in the disputed swearing-in of President Kibaki.

Justice Aaron Ringera and his assistants resigned because the public lost trust in them. It is time Waki and Gicheru followed suit rather than wait for ‘forced eviction’.
