Nairobi: Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was Friday morning accorded full State honours by her host President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Sirleaf – who arrived in the country for a State Visit – was formally received by President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

The visiting Head of State received a 21-gun salute and inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Kenya Army. The State reception for President Sirleaf also included the playing of the national anthems of both Liberia and Kenya.

After the formal reception, President Kenyatta and President Sirleaf went into a one-on-one meeting and are scheduled to later join their delegations for bilateral talks.

During President Sirleaf’s visit, she will join Kenyans at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday in celebrating this year’s Jamhuri Day. Later, President Sirleaf will make a second visit to State House to grace a State Luncheon hosted by President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on the occasion of Jamhuri Day.

On Monday, President Sirleaf will attend the first edition of the International Forum on Women in Business being hosted by the Government of Kenya and the International Trade Centre. On Tuesday, the visiting President will attend the opening of the World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
