Hunt for Kaindi's replacement begins as NPSC now advertises post of DIG

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has advertised the position of Deputy Inspector General National Police Service, kicking off the hunt for Grace Kaindi's replacement.

Ms Kaindi was forcefully retired from the position early this month in what culminated into an awkward confrontation between her and NPSC even as President Uhuru Kenyatta swiftly moved in to nominate her as an Ambassador.

Kaindi was succeeded by Senior Assistant Inspector-General Joel Mboya Kitili in an acting capacity.

In an advertisement placed in the local dailies, the commission requires someone who is serving as a police officer of or above the rank of Assistant Inspector General and must have served for not less than 15 years.

The Johnston Kavuludi-led team has however not given women preference in the recruitment process despite women leaders crying foul over what they termed as attempts to stifle gains made in empowering women .

The confrontation was ugly so much that Kaindi moved to court under a certificate of urgency seeking to quash her transfer, saying her five year contract would end in 2018 but later withdrew the case.
