George Muchai's murder suspects appear in court Monday

At least four suspects linked to the killing of Kabete MP George Muchai and his three aides are expected in court Monday. Police say two other suspects are in custody as investigations continue.

"They will make an appearance in court for robbery with violence among other charges, as we continue with further forensic probes into the incident," said CID boss Ndegwa Muhoro.

Among those in custody is the man police claim pulled the trigger that killed the four. He is popularly known as "Chairman" in Kinoo and Uthiru, Nairobi.

Police are also holding the wife to one of the suspects, who is said to have been the custodian of their guns. A G3 rifle that was recovered from the suspects had bloodstains.

The main suspect is said to have told police that he pulled the trigger after he saw one of the MP's bodyguards with a pistol, soon after they rammed into Muchai's car.

Police said they also recovered a pistol that was stolen from one of Muchai's bodyguards.

A taxi driver, who drove the suspects from Kamandura to Kinoo has also been questioned.

Police are yet to recover a briefcase that was stolen from Muchai's car, which the suspects say was filled with documents.

The suspects were arrested in Ruiru town before they led police to houses in Uthiru and Kinoo where more arrests were made.

A G3 rifle with seven bullets was recovered from the woman's house.

The pistol that the officers recovered, which they believe belonged to the slain officer, had been defaced.

Acting Inspector General Samuel Arachi said they knew the motive of the attack, thought he did not elaborate.

The development came as police were allowed to continue holding Simon Gichamba, a suspect in the murders.
