Members of parliament busted romping in public

A sex video linked to some members of the Kericho County Assembly has gone viral and shocked the County top leadership and area residents as well. For days, the clip which is about two minutes long has been resurfacing on various platforms not only in the County but in Nairobi among Kericho residents.

The undated video, according to sources, was captured in a club where some local politicians had reportedly checked in for a treat that turned into a night long drinking spree. In the video, a young woman, believed to be one of the politicians, is captured riding the hell out of an equally thirsty man as their counterparts on the dance floor cheer the bonking pair wildly and ravenously.

While those sharing the video insist the players are politicians from the County, Members of County Assembly who spoke to The Nairobian neither denied nor confirmed the allegations surrounding the steamy video. While blaming some bloggers for blowing the matter out of proportion, Kapsoit Ward member Paul Chirchir alias Tarimbo noted that certain politicians were careless in their conduct.

"It is shocking. Even though the clip could be old, it portrays issues that need to be dealt with. Of course bloggers have blown up the matter, but there are leaders who can't escape blame," Chirchir, who is serving his second term and is now Assembly Majority Leader, noted.Another Ward Rep who declined to be quoted said it was shameful for some politicians to sink that low as was captured in the video."It could be true or not, but the video has exposed some things that some Ward Reps are doing. That is how we are losing our dignity. Remember some of us have families who look up to us," the MCA told The Nairobian.

Rot in the County

During an MCA's homecoming party in Londiani over the weekend, residents praised the person who recorded the clip, stating that it was not only timely but that it also exposed the rot in the County."We are happy because the courageous person who recorded the video has done a good job. We hope that he will be promoted or rewarded handsomely," an MCA told the County Assembly Speaker during the event. But while whoever recorded the video remains unknown, some MCAs are pointing fingers at a county staffer.During an event within the County, two female Ward Reps named and blamed a male employee for recording the clip and asked him to stick to his job instead of bothering with MCAs and what they do away from the Assembly. So hot is the saga that some leaders in the County have called upon the Kenya Kwanza Government to probe the matter and find out if some MCAs were among those captured in the sex video.

Coincidentally, the video surfaced about three months after several female MCAs from the same County reported sexual harassment claims to police. In September, over 10 female Ward Reps told police that a male MCA had sexually harassed them during a retreat in Kisumu on September 23.They also requested the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya to take action against the MCAs.The two are not isolated incidents. Since the August elections, the County has never run short of drama.

Sexual harassment

During the UDA nominations, some members claimed that the party had failed to nominate people with disabilities and that the slots had instead been given to undeserving individuals (read beautiful women with fleshy hips). These claims were however not proven and a photograph of a curvy woman purported to be one of the beneficiaries turned out to be fake. The latest spat in the County occurred on November 16 when Kenyans on various social media platforms expressed anger after a document approving Kericho MCAs to spend five days at posh hotel in Nairobi popped up.The Ward reps were supposed to hold a training session on how to vet the county chief officers in the top City Hotel.A document from the County read in part, "In reference to standing order No 177, I hereby request for facilitation of all members of the county assembly to Nairobi November 15-20, 2022,"Following the outburst by netizens, the venue for training for the MCAs was changed to another posh hotel in Nakuru.
