How defilement ex-convict lured school boy and sodomised him

Njoro Police station in Nakuru county on August 23, 2021. [Kipsang Joseph, Standard] What started as a suspected case of indiscipline in school by a teenager has left his family reeling in shock. The boy has narrated how a defilement convict, who completed his jail term barely two months ago, lured and sexually assaulted him. The Form Three student says that on October 7, the suspect, who had rented a house next to them near his school in Njoro, approached him and requested if he could join him in digging out tree stamps on a farm. "We were on a mid-term break and I was free. When he offered me the job with a promise of Sh250 per day, I consulted my mother and she agreed to it but told me to be careful," says the minor. The two worked on the tree stamps for three days on the promise that he would pay him as a lump sum of Sh750 which he never honoured. Three days later on Utamaduni Day, the suspect approached the minor claiming that he had no money and his house had been locked by the landlord. "He requested a place to sleep for the night saying that he was expecting money the next day. I agreed that he sleeps in my house," says the boy. But he did not consult his mother on whether he would host him in the house rented for his convenience. "Since I had not been with my grandmother, I decided to visit her and left Ndung'u in the house. I returned in the evening and found he had made tea for us," he says. Unbeknown to him, the tea been spiked with a substance that sent him into a deep slumber giving the suspect a chance to take advantage of him. "In the morning, I went to the washroom and felt some pains and noticed I was bleeding. I was feeling dizzy and realised something was not right." When he went backto the house, the student shocked when the suspect admitted he had defiled him. "He told me that he had sodomised me and that I should never say a word about it to anyone. He said that if I did, he would kill me." The shaken minor kept the matter to himself not knowing how it would later affect his mental well-being to an extent he started to hide it from others. His mother whose identity has been concealed to protect the minor says that she received a call from the school on November 1. The mother, who works as a house manager in Nairobi, was informed that her son's character was worrying and that they had considered disciplining him through a suspension. "I was shocked to learn that my son who was always disciplined was going to school but missed some classes under unclear circumstances," the mother told The Standard. During her visit to the school, Alvin told his mother that he was only having stomach pains but no one was paying attention to him. The reality was far from the teacher's suspicion that the boy was on drugs leading to his sudden change "When we got to the deputy head teacher's office, he broke down in tears and said that he needed assurance for his security. He narrated his ordeal which left us in shock," she says, adding the matter was reported at Njoro Police Station vide OB number 47/04/11/2022 as he was rushed to hospital for medical attention and counseling. "The suspect is known to me and had been freed from jail in September for a defilement case. If I had known it was him, I would have warned my son not to interact with the man," she says. Njoro Sub-County Police Commander Isaac Odumbe confirmed they are probing the case. "The suspect appears to have known he had been exposed when the mother turned up from Nairobi. He has since vanished but we are trailing him," said Odumbe.
