Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has stirred the political pot with a bold and humorous social media post, declaring his intentions to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential election.

The post shared on his social media pages, which have since gone viral, showcases Salasya’s signature wit and unshakable confidence as he compares his academic and professional background to that of the sitting president.

“My brother William Ruto studied botany and zoology, plants and animals at the University of Nairobi,” Salasya quipped.

“Then he sold chickens, became an MP, and now he’s president. On my side, I did a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Finance at Egerton University and even worked at Diamond Trust Bank. So, who should be advising who on matters of the economy?” the legislator posed.

The post, peppered with playful emojis, didn’t stop there. Salasya confidently declared his readiness to take on Ruto in the 2027 elections, jokingly threatening to “send him to Sugoi” if no serious contenders step forward.

“Mimi itakuwa walk over saa kumi na mbili ako Eldoret city on his way to Sugoi,” he added, suggesting a landslide victory that would leave Ruto returning to his rural home.

As the MP for Mumias East, Salasya is no stranger to the political arena, but his audacious declaration has sparked mixed reactions.

Supporters have praised his boldness and sense of humour, while critics have questioned whether he has the experience and national appeal to mount a serious challenge.

"Huyu angesomea Engineering kama Sudi si angetembea na kisogo," wrote MCA Tricky.

Eve.lyne 254 said, "Woiiiii wachana tu nayeye usipatane na Subaru... Wacha 2027 tuongee na vitendo, staki kukuloose."

Evan_van_ shared, "If we have just 10 leaders like Salasya we can achieve all the development we ever wanted in 5 yrs."

Fitness Hub_254 noted, "Ama tumwambie , I went to alliance atulie."
