What primary school heads will discuss during annual conference

Primary school heads are attending their annual conference in Mombasa, at a time when the association is celebrating 20 years of existence.

Through the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA), the teachers will have a five-day conference starting Monday, November 6 up to Friday, November 10.

The conference will be taking place at Sheikh Ali-Zayed Children's Home in Mombasa County.

In a statement on Monday, KEPSHA has outlined five key issues to be discussed at the conference; whose theme is to inspire Innovation for a Sustainable Impact in the Present and Future Decades.

"The Conference theme underscores the importance of innovation in Primary Education delivery and its management. within the evolving context of the Comprehensive School setup. It encapsulates the essence of KEPSHA's collective mission to enhance the quality of Primary Education and, to drive positive change in our Schools," KEPSHA Chair John Nzioka says.

The association plans to have discussions on sustainability in education, assessment, and accountability, fostering inclusivity in education, enhancing teacher professional development as well as headteacher advancement, and introducing programs, initiatives, and strategies for effective comprehensive schools.

"This Conference provides a platform to share our experiences. challenges and success stories in redefining education management within this holistic framework. We have an impressive line-up of speakers and sessions that will address the various facets of Comprehensive School management," Nzioka says.

For the four days they will spend in Mombasa, the educators have pledged to plant 80 trees in partnership with an NGO, as part of its efforts in climate action.

The conference will also be attended by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, who will be inaugurating the Conference on Wednesday. November 8. 2023 alongside Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang and Teachers' Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia.
