A letter to CS Amina Mohammed

Blog

Dear CS Amina Mohamed,

The biggest interruption to sports, and our lives, in the last few months, has been Covid-19. The sporting fraternity appreciates the Government’s assistance by providing financial relief to sports personalities whose sole source of livelihood is sports, either as prize money or sponsorships or other fees, and who due to Covid-19, have not been able to earn a livelihood.

In Kenya, these would be professional athletes, professional golfers and professional Kenya-based soccer professionals.

This is to bring to your attention to the fact that professional golfers in Kenya have not received the funds. This despite the fact that they had invested their personal resources in preparation for the Kenya Open Golf Championship, now postponed.

Caddies directly depend on the daily fees paid to them by golfers. While Kenya’s golfers and clubs came out strong and raised emergency funds to feed these caddies and their families in April, the foodstuffs subsequently donated to the caddies are now exhausted and families are going hungry.

The Pro golfers and the caddies all over the country are now seeking your intervention and assistance.

The PGK maintains a list of all Pro Golfers, while every club has a list of their caddies. It is therefore easy to disburse these funds directly to the phones of the legitimate pros and caddies.

We eagerly wait and anticipate your action on this.

Yours Sincerely,

Pigamingi
