Kenya on Monday recorded 2O4 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 2,963 raising the country's caseload to 243,929.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 6.9 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,457,626.
Out of the new patients, 102 are male, whereas 102 are female, with the youngest carrier being a six-month-old baby, and the oldest aged 99.
Of the new cases, six are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi leads with 83, Kiambu 16, Makueni 14, Garissa, Turkana and Machakos 10 cases each, Murang’a and Embu 8 cases each, Nakuru 7, Isiolo 6, Baringo, Nyeri and Kwale 4 cases each, Kilifi, Migori, Tharaka Nithi and Siaya 3 cases each, Meru and Mombasa 2 cases each, Kakamega, Kisii, Kitui an Taita Taveta a case each.
Kenya’s Covid-19 toll reached 4,923 after 17 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
Total recoveries now stand at 233,902 after 984 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 518 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 466 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 189,464 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 44,438 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,555 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 3,345 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and thirty-eight (138) patients are in the ICU, 91 of whom are on ventilatory support and 33 on supplemental oxygen. 14 patients are on observation.
Another 624 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 566 of them in general wards and 58 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination
Kenya has at September 12, 2021, administered 3,099,807 vaccines across the country.
Of these, the total first doses are 2,270,827 while the second doses are 828,980.
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows: Aged 58 years and above 244,998, others 251,411, Health Workers 137,115, Teachers 125,274 while Security Officers are at 70,182.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 36.5 per cent with the majority being males at 56 per cent while females are at 44 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 3.04 per cent.
