282, 518 vaccinated for Covid-19, says Ministry of Health

A total of 282, 518 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 as of April 3, according to the Ministry of Health.

In a statement on Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 911 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 6,045 in the last 24 hours, pushing the national caseload to 138,988.

Of the confirmed cases, 880 are Kenyans, while 31 are foreigners; 408 are females and 503 males. The youngest is a two-year-old baby while the oldest is aged 98.

CS Kagwe said 1,586 patients are admitted to various healthcare facilities across the country, while 5,903 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. Some 198 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of whom 43 are on ventilatory support, 125 are on supplemental oxygen, and 30 on observation.

Another 236 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 222 of them in the general wards and 14 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

533 patients have recovered; 420 from Home-Based and Isolation Care and 113 from various health facilities. The total recoveries stand at 94,183.

18 deaths have, however, been recorded in the last 24 hours; 11 are from the past month, while seven are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates.

In terms of sub-county distribution, Nairobi continues to lead in infections with 536 cases. Uasin Gishu registered (48), Nakuru (34), Nyeri (20), and Kilifi (11).
