Kenya has recorded 64 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours raising the country's total caseload to 96,678.
In a statement sent to media houses by the Ministry of Health on Saturday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new cases are from 1,852 samples which push the country's cumulative tests to 1,052,836.
In terms of gender, 35 are male and 29 are female while the youngest case is six-year-old and the oldest is aged 81.
Of the new cases, 59 are Kenyans while five are foreigners.
Distribution
In counties’ distribution, Nairobi leads 34 cases, Kisii 5, Laikipia 5, Meru 3, Machakos 3, Mombasa 2, Busia 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kiambu 1, Embu 1, Kajiado 1, Kilifi 1, Nakuru 1, Nyandarua 1, Siaya 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.
In Nairobi’s sub-counties, the 34 cases are from Lang’ata (7), Dagoretti North, Embakasi Central, Kibra and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi West, Kamukunji and Kasarani (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Makadara, Mathare, Roysambu, Ruaraka and Westlands (1) case each.
In Kisii, all the 5 cases are from Kitutu Chache South.
In Laikipia, all the 5 cases are from Laikipia West.
In Machakos, all the 3 cases are from Machakos Town.
In Meru, the 3 cases are from Imenti South (2) and Imenti Central (1).
In Mombasa, the 2 cases are from Jomvu and Nyali (1) case each.
In Busia the 2 cases are from Matayos and Teso North (1) case each.
Recoveries and fatalities
On a positive note, 55 patients recovered with 41 from the home-based care programme while 14 were discharged from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 79,012.
However, Kagwe said four patients have succumbed to the disease bringing Kenya’s fatalities since March to 1,685.
Admitted
A total of 657 are admitted in various health facilities while 2,989 are in the Home-based Isolation.
Twenty-nine patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which 14 are on ventilatory support while 12 are on supplemental oxygen with three being on observation.
Separately, another 19 patients are in the supplementary Oxygen, of whom 19 are general wards while are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
